About
Boullion Consulting exists to serve those who serve. I bring a rare blend of military discipline and frontline clinical leadership—shaped by my service in the Marine Corps and refined through over two decades of hands-on experience as a firefighter, paramedic, and flight nurse. This journey has equipped me with invaluable expertise in disaster preparedness, emergency management, and program management.
As a veteran myself, I've navigated the intense demands of military life, from high-stakes operations to leading teams under pressure, providing me with firsthand insight into the challenges veterans encounter when transitioning to civilian roles. My 10 years as the director of a helicopter emergency medical services program further sharpened my skills in guiding high-tempo teams through accreditation cycles, complex transports, and ongoing operational changes—experiences that closely parallel the demanding environments faced by first responders like firefighters and paramedics.
Complementing this real-world expertise—not only from "boots on the ground" frontline roles but also from my leadership experience—is my MBA, which has enabled me to master the business aspects of operations. My formal education also includes a doctorate, with research focused on the impact of leadership behaviors on resilience, well-being, and retention in high-stress professions such as firefighting. Drawing from this academic foundation and my lived experiences as a veteran and frontline leader, I provide coaching to veterans and first responders using evidence-based practices that can be implemented immediately—reducing toxicity, building trust, and achieving stronger outcomes for individuals and their missions.
If you are a veteran or first responder who feels like no one understands you, or you're struggling to "fit in," focused coaching may be the solution you've been seeking.

A Marine. A firefighter. A flight nurse. A leader. Patrick D. Boullion’s raw, inspiring memoir traces one man’s journey from childhood bullying and family turmoil to the front lines of military discipline, disaster response, and emergency medicine—and finally to hard-won wisdom.
Boot camp broke him down. Hurricane Katrina tested his grit. Failed marriages, toxic workplaces, and self-doubt threatened to bury him. Yet through every storm, Boullion learned to adapt, lead with humility, and turn pain into purpose. With unflinching honesty, he shares the lessons that transformed a quiet, anxious boy into a doctor of leadership who now mentors veterans and first responders.
This is not a fairy tale of overnight success. It’s a battle-tested guide to resilience, emotional intelligence, and lifelong growth—for anyone ready to face life’s hurdles and emerge stronger on the other side.
Perfect for fans of military memoirs, leadership stories, and real-life redemption.
Mission-Ready Leadership: A Field Manual for Fire Officers equips company officers with practical tools to combat toxic behaviors, boost retention, and foster resilient teams in the demanding fire service. Drawing from doctoral research on destructive leadership and its impact on firefighter well-being, authors Dr. Anthony J. Clinker and Dr. Patrick D. Boullion deliver evidence-based strategies without academic jargon. Discover the three pillars of fire leadership—communication, relationships, and adaptability—through real-world examples, historical context, and modern theories like Situational Leadership and LMX. The heart of the book lies in ten workbooks with quick-implement tools, structured in 60-second, 5-minute, and 15-minute formats for on-shift use. Whether managing a dumpster fire or a career-defining crisis, this manual helps you lead with influence, not force, ensuring your crew stays safe, committed, and mission-ready.
